Fluff Day

For those of you that don't know....cloth diapers are also known as "fluff".  Don't ask me why...cause I really don't know ,but I can only imagine that it has something to do with how damn cute their little tooshies look in cloth diapers.

In my last cloth diaper post, I revealed my plans for "fluffing" my child's butt and I couldn't be more excited that EVERYTHING that I ordered plus more came yesterday.  I had so much fun opening my new "Christmas" package!  They are so freakin' cute, I can't stand it!

I got 2 Bum Genius 4.0 pockets, 3 Fuzzibunz pockets, 6 Kawaii pockets (4 thanks to my mom), and 5 Flip diaper covers.  Plus a super cute Planet Wise "owl" wetbag.  I got all kinds of colors, but I would have to say that my favorite by far would be the Kawaii cow print.  I can't wait to see him in it!

I am so excited about my decision to cloth diaper now that I actually bought some more today...can we say A.D.D.I.C.T.I.O.N?  Cotton Babies was having a "gently used" sale on Bum Genius 4.0 for $10 a piece.  I can just see your little noses curled up at the thought of "gently used" diapers, but it really isn't that big of a deal.  These come free of stains and will be disinfected totally before going on my child's bottom!  They are usually about $18 a piece, so I couldn't pass up this deal!  I bought 6...yeah, that's right, I said it... now how to hide that from hubby?  Not sure....  Any suggestions?????

With my excitement comes more anxiety though.....  After seeing the diapers in person, I am wondering if I am going to like pocket diapers way better than prefolds and Flip covers????  They just seem so much easier! Slap that baby right on his butt and move on my merry way!  Not that the Flips look hard, but I have to figure out what kind of prefolds/ inserts to put in them, then Darren has to figure out how to fold them, etc....

So cloth diaper moms, I need your advice.... should I just stick with pockets and sell my unused Flips or should I give it a try?

The Diaper Decision......

I know that all of you have been on pins and needles waiting for me to make my big diaper decision....so here it is:

We have decided to make every effort of cloth diapering our little one.  It's really been a difficult decision to make and I have gone back and forth about a thousand times.  But, I have one thing going for me that is most women's biggest battle....my husband is 100% on board!  I am so thankful for his support...I could not ask for a better father for my child!! And while I am speaking out about support, I will give a special shout out to Erin at Growing a Foosa and Ashley at The Pollock Potluck for their helpful videos and answering my silly questions!  They both have inspired me so much and helped to make a decision that will be best for baby, the environment, and most of all OUR WALLET!

There are soooo many types of cloth diapers out there (which I think contributed to my anxiety about the situation).  I have done a ton of research and am still by no means an expert.

I have decided to go with FLIP's when Owen is with us, and pocket diapers when he is at daycare or grandma's house.

The FLIP diaper is a very cost effective way to cloth diaper and consists of a water proof cover that looks exactly like a disposable diaper and a prefold (your mother's cloth diaper) to go inside.  With these, you just change the prefold when baby is wet/ dirty and reuse the cover (as long as it has not been touched).

This is what they look like:

I have bought 6 covers in super cute colors and intend on buying about 20-24 prefolds (not sure which kind yet).

The other type of diaper that we have chosen to go with is a pocket diaper.  This diaper looks and acts exactly like a disposable, it just has a cloth inserted inside the diaper for extra absorbtion.  When the diaper is wet/dirty, you just take the whole thing off and slap on a new one.  The only difference is that you put it in a wetbag to be washed instead of throwing it away.

Easy Peasy.....

This is what they look like:

I know that most people are turned off by the thought of cloth diapering their children.  I'm not really sure why????  I get that doing poopy laundry is not the most appealing thing ever, but I would like to speak with just one mom that has never washed anything poopy.  All babies poop and all diapers leak at some point or another.  It's really no different.

One advantage that I think that we have going for us is that I work from home 2 days a week and Darren is home 1 day a week.  So we have the extra time to do extra laundry.  I can absolutely understand where it would be difficult for someone with a full time job who doesn't get home until 5:30 and then has to feed, bathe, and put baby to sleep would not have much time for laundry....but for us, it just works out.

I know that this is going to be a challenge.  I know that there will be days when I will want to give up.  I know that it is not the traditional way of doing things (these days anyway).  But it is what we have chosen to do.  So if you know me in real life, please just accept the fact that we are going to try this route and don't try to be negative about it.  We are going to give it 100% and if in the end it doesn't work out, then at least we tried.  And if it does work out....then I promise not to gloat!  :)

25.

A little behind as usual, but here is my 25 week update.

Things are still going great! I had my 1 hour Glucose test on Wed and surprisingly, the juice was not that bad! I had prepared for the worst, so ..... The worst part was the hour that I had to wait to get poked and proded. While I was waiting, I got to meet with Dr. C. I am up 11 lbs pre-pregnancy. "Not too bad" if I say so myself... The scary thing is that I am packing on the pounds now and I mean quick! At this rate, I will be about 80 lbs overweight by the time Owen decides to come.

According to The Bump, Owen is the size of an eggplant. An eggplant????? Those things are HUGE....... I can't believe that! How can something that big be in my little belly bump?

He is still moving around like crazy, but I am so glad that he is. It is so nice to have the reassurance that he is still in there and moving as he should. Helps to ease some of the anxiety.

I have started getting a little bit of heartburn, but nothing too bad. Nothin' a little Tums can't cure.... I am very thankful for that!

Sleep is still going ok if you minus the crazy ass dreams and the frequent bathroom trips.

All in all...I am still going to classify myself into the "blessed" category for pregnancy symptoms.

The bump..... (this was Thanksgiving Day before the Turkey feast)

Glucose results....

Good news:  I passed!

Bad news:  My blood came back low in iron, which means that iron supplements are in my near future.  If I wasn't pooping before, I can forget about any plans to now......

I guess if this is really my only pregnancy complaint so far, I shouldn't complain!

Something to "brighten" my day

Lately, I have been going through...oh should we say, a decorating identity crises.  We have been in our home for a little over two years and as with every homeowner, there are so many things that I still want to do around here.  The chandelier over our dining room table was my subject of the month.  I knew that I didn't like it, but wasn't sure what I wanted.  Just our luck, my aunt wanted that chandelier for her dining room and offered to buy it from us so that we could get what we wanted.  Woo Hoo!

After much research, I found what I wanted.  One of my favorite blogs, Iheartorganizing.com, recently did a project where she took a plain white drum shade and made it into something with a lot of pizzaz.  I knew right away that this would add the "fun" and "whimsical" element that I have been looking for.  So, I went for it!

It was super easy (although a little time consuming), but I LOVE IT!  Here is a before shot...

And after.....

This was so simple and if I can do it, certainly anyone can!  We simply bought a plain white drum shade from Ebay for $125 and then purchased the mum decals from Etsy for an additional $25.  So for $150, we now get to eat, study, chit chat, etc....under this amazing light!

V-Day

You didn't think that I was going to go this whole week without recognizing that it is "V-Day" week, did you? What is V-Day, you ask? The 24th week of pregnancy is known as VIABILITY week and any pregnant woman is ecstatic to make it this far, including me!!! I am far enough along that if God forbid something was to happen and Owen was to make his appearance, chances are greater that he could survive. Now it's obviously not a 100% chance, but I will take what I can get and every little milestone gets me through to the next.

I am still feeling really good!! I have started to get a bit of heartburn the past few days, but I am not sure if it is something that I ate, or the dreaded symptom is starting to show its ugly face. I am up 9.5 lbs total from my pre-pregnancy weight and he is still moving around like crazy. I have gotten to where I love it when he rolls over vs. when he kicks or punches. Sometimes the kicks are very uncomfortable and I know that the worst has yet to come. With that said, I am by no means being negative about feeling my little miracle move inside of me, I am just stating the facts.

I have also been experiencing some pain in my pelvic bone while sleeping. Sometimes when i turn over, I can feel it, but it usually goes away by morning. I am just going to assume it's my body getting ready to push out a 6-7 (hopefully) lb baby. I truly can't complain though....I am so blessed and loving every minute of this amazing time in my life!

With that I will leave you with my latest and greatest belly shot! 24 weeks!

Back on the fence

One thing that you will learn about me as you follow my journey is that I am one of the most indecisive people that you will ever "meet".  I posted a while ago about my desire to use cloth diapers on my little Owen's bottom.  I was Gung Ho about it and even went ahead and purchased 5 Bum Genius one size fits all gently used on Craigslist.  I got the diapers in the mail and after the excitement of how cute they were faded away, the fear set it....why?

I was scared to use them, I was scared to wash them, I let the nay-sayers get to me.....  So, what'd I do?  I re-sold them.  :(  At least they hold their value and I got what I paid for them back.  :)

There is so much to it all: special soap, special diaper cream, special wipes.....  It really is scary to take the leap over to the "cloth side".  But lately, the more and more I think about it, it really is good for the baby, the environment, and most of all...my wallet.

I have been following blogs of cloth diaper mommies for some time now and am so inspired by their choices.  So with that, I guess I will sit on the fence a little while longer (until I get pushed one way or the other).  Darren will be so upset when I tell him that I am back on the band wagon, but oh well.....

23

I know, I know....it's been awhile and that is oh so dissapointing to my "26" followers... Sorry, I have been busy and blogging is well, kind of like going to the gym. How you ask? Well, once you get out of the habit of doing it, it's just easier not to. So, I am biting the bullet and although I am not getting my ass in gear at the gym, I will try to burn some calories with my super fast lightning speed typing fingers. ;)

With that said, here I am at 23 weeks. You will have to excuse the sweat pants with the dressy shirt. These days as soon as I get home from work, the pants come off and the sweat pants go on. My belly needs to breathe!

Things are going really well! Our last appt was last week and Owen weighed in at 1 full pound! Can you believe it? My baby's getting so big...sniff sniff.... I am up 8 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, which I know to some is REALLY good, but I have gained 2 of those pounds in the last 3 days, so....where does that leave me for the last 17 weeks of my pregnancy? Hopefully not overweight.

He is still a mover and I swear sometimes he's having a dance party in there. I get so tickled sometimes, it's such a funny feeling. But as funny as it feels, it is the most amazing feeling that I have ever had. To be able to feel this child growing inside of me is truly incredible. Darren is finally able to feel Owen moving on most nights and it's so nice to just spend time together as a family enjoying this new life that we have created. Even Burton joins in sometimes... :)

OK, I guess that is enough catch up! Next week is a special week....I am so excited! Stay tuned.

Movement

This little boy of mine is a mover and a shaker!  I have been feeling him for a while now.  It started off as very light taps and now he moves around so much that I get tickled, no really...I'm that ticklish!  The movement is getting stronger and more consistant.  Darren was finally able to feel a real and true movement yesterday morning.  I love it!  Finally, he can be part of this adventure (not that he wasn't before, but for the husband, there's not much you can feel, kwim?).

I like to think that he is dancing around in there, but Darren has already said that he won't be a dancer..hahah!  Maybe he will be a swimmer?  Either way, I love it and love him!

Guilty

I feel like the worst mom ever and baby boy isn't even here yet.

I have been fighting off a cold for more than a week with no signs of it getting better.  I tried my hardest to by tough and push through without any kind of medicine other than simple Tylenol, but IT.WAS.NOT.WORKING.!!!

I called the doctor and after my very descriptive version of bodily fluids...she determined that I indeed have an infection and need an antibiotic.  She called it in for me and I waited two days to pick it up.  I didn't want to have to get it.

After much begging from my husband, and double checking with the pharmasist that it was ok that I take it, I paid for my package and left with my tail between my legs.

I can't believe that I am doing this....I can't believe that I am taking a prescription while pregnant...  As I swalled my first pill, all I could think about was giving my sweet little boy some sort of crazy birth defect.  I AM FEELING SO GUILTY ABOUT THE WHOLE THING.

I keep trying to remind myself to weigh the risks vs the benefits.  If I am sick, my baby is sick.  If I have an infection, my baby could get the infection.  Please God, let this horrible thing that I will dub as a "pregnancy cold" go fast.

Any other mothers out there have to take an antibiotic while pregnant?  Please help me to feel ok about my decision......

sniff sniff...cough cough....

19

Time is flying by.  I am so excited for Owen to get here, but I am not quite ready yet.  Good thing I have about 21 more weeks.  It sounds like forever away, but if I compare it to the past 19 weeks, it will be here in no time.  Then throw in all of the upcoming holidays and March is pretty much here!

This week Owen is the size of a Mango: Does that even seem possible?

Baby Stats (according to BabyCenter.com):

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Baby Stats (according to me):

How far along? 19 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: finally starting to gain some weight.... + 3.5 lbs.

Maternity clothes? I have a pair of jeans that I wear, but am mostly just wearing the Bella Band with my regular pants.  All of my shirts are still good to go at this point.

Stretch marks? None!  And I really hope that it stays that way.  My mom doesn't have any and they say that it is hereditary, so hopefully I am in the clear!

Sleep: Between the crazy dreams and multiple trips to the bathroom, sleep is getting worse and worse.  It definetely could be worse though....

Best moment this week: Darren felt Owen move from the outside last night.  It was light, but he could feel it!!!

Movement: a little bit... Even though still sporadic, movement is getting more frequent and stronger as the days pass.

Food cravings: Not really any serious cravings.  Hmmm....maybe a cheeseburger?

Gender: Sweet Baby Boy!

Labor Signs: Absolutely not thank you very much and I would like to keep it that way for at least 20 more weeks.

Belly Button in or out? in, but a little shallower than before

Wedding rings on or off? Still on... haven't noticed too much swelling yet.

What I miss: hhmmm....I think I am good this week.

What I am looking forward to: Anatomy Scan on Wed.  I can't wait to see Owen again!  I could watch him in there for hours.

Weekly Wisdom: I don't feel all to wise yet - or at least wise enough to be sharing wisdom. But I will say I've learned to go to bed when tired, and even if its 8:30 thats ok, I'm no longer cool regardless of how I look at it!

Milestones: feeling outside kicks!  :)

Here I am this morning at 19 weeks:

Wow that was a long post....sorry!

Crib Assembly = No fighting!!

This weekend we finally got around to assembling the crib.  Everyone warned us.... don't put the crib together together, it will only end in a fight.  I am proud to say that assembly is completed and we are still married. hahhaha....

Maybe it's because I let Darren do it while I took some alot pictures.

He wasn't too happy when I asked him to pause for a quick smile.  It didn't help that my flash took about 10 seconds and it took about 3 "takes" before I got the picture without him moving.

Here it is all put together!!!  I love it and can't wait to get my bedding on it!

This is the matching dresser and just a few things that Owen has waiting for him.

Next stop....PAINT!  Let's get this thing going!

18 and movement.

I've hit the 18th week....can you believe it?  I can not even fathom that I am almost half way there.  It seems like yesterday that I was staring that those two little pink lines.  Time flies when you're having fun!

This week:

Owen is the size of a sweet potato.  Not the prettiest of pictures, but you get the point.  He weighs a whopping 7 oz.

Head to rump, he is about 5 1/2 inches long and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. His genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

Here is an 18 week bump pic from this morning.  Please excuse the wethead look.....

And now for the best part of this update.....I have finally felt him moving around in there!!!!  Saturday night, I laid down to go to sleep and felt a short little, what I like to call, blip in my bikini line area.  It was short but sweet and almost felt like a muscle spasm or what you feel when your eye twitches.

On Sunday morning, I had my hand resting on my stomach, and felt sort of a rolling sensation.  I am not sure if this was Owen or not, but it was really cool.

Since this weekend,  I have been able to distinctly tell when I feel him.  It is typically only when I am laying down still, but I know that it will be no time before he starts dancing around in there all day long.

I am so in love!

Overboard? I think not!

Two posts in one day.....crazy, I know!

This weekend, I was enlightened on a little thing called a consignment fair (at least that is what I am calling it).  Holy crap, they had a lot of stuff and C.H.E.A.P.!

Check out my finds....

And the best part..... 27 pieces for $40!  Forty dollars, people!!! I think that I basically stole these items from the store.   So SUE ME!

This is my favorite.... a little doggy hat and gloves.  Since Poppy (who we will now refer to as Owen...that's right ...he has an official name) will be born in Feb/March, this little set will come in handy!

WTF.

Does anyone remember these from Spencer's Gifts?  OMG... I used to love that store!

Well, these days, everytime I look at myself naked in the mirror, I imagine someone hovering their hand over my boob causing all of these insightly little electric current lines.  Although these globes were oh so pretty and mesmerizing, this my friend is NOT!!

Please tell me that they will go back to normal???  If not, I guess I could always offer my breasts as road maps for lost drivers.  Just a thought!

Nursery Plans - The Beginning Stages

With all of the excitement of our little boy coming, we have started thinking about how we want his special room to look.  We are both on the same page that we don't want anything too "baby" as we want it to be able to grow with him.  We I also don't really care for something too "themey" (is that even a word?), so we thought that this set from Pottery Barn kids would be perfect!!!  What do you think...so cute, right?  Very traditional and very preppy!

This is not the exact color of paint that we have chosen, but I think that a grayish/blue will be the perfect compliment to the multi colored bedding.  Currently, I have about 25 blue paint swatches on the wall in his room.  Why is it so dang hard to pick a good color?  Not too light, not too dark, etc...

And for DIY decoration...check out this button art that I found on Etsy!!!!  So freakin' cute, I can't stand it!  Darren is an avid hunter and I think that this would be a great addition to Poppy's room.  I would try to make it a little more masculine though... maybe red paper with navy buttons?  Darren is really excited about this project!

So there you have it!  The beginning stages of our nursery planning.  I can't wait to get in there and get started!  What do you think so far?

16

Can you believe it? 16 weeks! It feels like just yesterday that I found out that we were about to be blessed beyond belief!

Almost half way...... :)

What's Poppy up to this week?

He is about the size of an avacado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too.

I am feeling good great! We are on our way to decorating the nursery....more to come on that later. I will leave you now with a picture of my ever growing stomach.

Gettin' Muddy!

Yesterday was the annual Marine Mud Run for Toys For Tots! Unfortunatley, I wasn't able to participate because of Poppy....but had a blast watching everyone else get M-U-D-D-Y! Here's some pics of the event:

The Team... Yep, you read that right....the Mudda F***as! Hahaha..perfect, right?

They came in at 42:01, but had a blast! Look at those faces...I guess Darren is the only one that went full face in the mud..hahah!

A face only a wifey could kiss... :)

I am growing a penis!!!!

OK, so I realize that that doesn't sound too great, but in my head.....it was really funny! We went to the doc yesterday and found out that we are having a BABY BOY!!!! And believe me when I tell you that my boy aint shy! I fear that he is going to be happier without clothes on. We will have to visit that one when we get there. For now he can remain naked and flaunt it like a rockstar!

Here are a few pics from yesterday:

Look at that brain...man my boy's gonna be smart!

This is a pic of his what appear to be really long legs (which is funny because Darren and I are both of average height). If you look to the top of his legs, you will see his man stuff. He is still measuring about 3 days ahead and weighs a whopping 4 oz. He is about 4.5 inches long. Everything looks great! His HR was 154 BPM. There was one small negative that came out of the appt. The tech says that my placenta is low which may or may not indicate Placenta Previa. There is still plenty of time for it to correct itself however if not....the only way that it would make an affect would be that I would have to C section instead of vaginal. We are fine with that as long as momma and baby are healthy. So, we will just take that one day at a time.

We are absolutely estatic! Darren is already talking about hunting, fishing, snowboarding...etc. I cannot wait to start on the nursery and start collecting cute little boy clothes. We are still visiting names, but hope to pin something down soon. We are both leaning towards Owen Michael. We shall see.....

So, there ya have it! The Jenkins' will be expecting a baby boy in March! The Jenkins' name can now live on....

So Blessed

Everyone always said before I got pregnant...just wait, you will get so many "hand me downs" ....and boy were they right!  I am only 15 weeks and already have things being given to me.

I have gotten 2 pack n' plays (they are not the cutest, but I will be taking one to Grandma and Grandpa's house and then I guess I will just use the other one when we go out and about or something), a bumbo chair (it's blue, so if we have a girl, I will just buy a cover for it), a crib (we haven't seen it yet, but IT'S FREE for goodness sakes), a high chair, my nephews infant car seat with 3 bases, and a Medela breast pump.  Can you belive that?  I also have quite a bit of clothes lined up.  We are just waiting to see what this little one will be before loading up on those.

I have been told by many people to be careful what you accept as "hand me downs", afterall...you don't want to just take on someone else's junk.  But what is the ok thing to say when you want to turn down someone's kindness?  I might not have it in me....

I am truly blessed to have so many people around that care so much about me and D and want to help us out in whatever way they can!  Now, if I could just get someone to "hand me down" some free babysitting services.  :)

Playing catch up.....

It's been quite some time since I posted my weekly belly shots. We are definetely seeing a cute little baby bump arise and I am ecstatic about it! It is one of the only symptoms that I have to let me know that this little baby is growing. The whole process is amazing! We go on Thursday for a cervix check and we are hoping and praying that little Poppy will show his/her junk. We are so ready to know so that we can start buying gender specific things (or things in general) and I want to have the name out in the open. Not sure if we will find out or not, but I will be almost 16 weeks and as long as Poppy cooperates, we should be able to see something, or a lack of something.

I will leave you with my 14 and 15 week shots. Preface: I don't know why I always look like I am concentrating really hard...I guess I haven't mastered the self portrait yet. Maybe I will start having D take them for me so I can at least look normal. :)

The Diaper Debate

I have been toying for a while about what I wanted to do in the diaper department.  I know what most of you are thinking....disposable all the way!!!  But what you may not realize is all of the benefits that come along with cloth diapering.

1. They are not our mother's diapers.  When I first thought of cloth diapering, I was imagining white cloth, safety pins, and vinyl covers.   Not so much.... they do still have those, but wait till you see these dipes!

Aren't they just the cutest?  These are made by Bum Genius and are an All in One diaper, meaning that it is exactly like a disposable....you put it on baby's butt, snap it and go.  Easy peasy!

2. Babies in disposable diapers go through thousands of diapers while the are pre- potty.  Can you image how many of these disgusting diapers are just laying around in land fills?  Not a pretty thought!  With cloth, you just wash and reuse.  You can reuse not only for this baby but for future babies as well...just imagine the possibilities!

3. Speaking of washing the diapers, I know that it sounds gross and you are all probably saying ewwww...out loud, but really it's not that bad.  They make this great little gadget called a diaper sprayer that attaches to the piping on your toilet and you just spray it right off and send it to the washer.  It's inevitable...you are going to be washing poop NO MATTER WHAT!!  Check this out....

3. Can you imagine wearing plasticy underwear? How uncomfortable would that be?  Cloth diapers are soft and absorbent.  Baby is more comfortable and from what I have heard, diaper rash goes down to a minimum.  Yay soft baby butt!

4. This is the most important of all....the COST SAVINGS!  Parents with babies in disposable diapers will end up spending about $2k throughout the length of diaper days.  Holy crap that's alot of money!  Cloth diapers are about $17 a pop.  I figure that I would need about 20-25 of them total (this would put me at washing them every other day or so) which would end up being approx. $425 for the length of diaper days.  Throw in a little more for the cost of washing and you are still way below the thousands of dollars for disposables.

Check out this chart that breaks it down:  Cloth vs. Disposable Chart

Also Check out these mommas that cloth diaper their tots and love it!

With all of that being said....YES disposables are easier.  YES I would still need to use them at times.  YES I would need to get D on board with it.  But, I am falling off of the fence onto the cloth diaper side very quickly!

What are your thoughts on it?  I would like to know if you have experience with it or not....

What a relief!

We got the final results of our NT scan yesterday.  Doc's office says that everything looks great and all of the things that they look for were in the normal range.   I am so relieved...one less thing to worry about.  We are moving right along....

12 weeks

Friday was our NT scan.  I was so worried because we hadn't seen the little bean in about 2.5 weeks.  This time around, we got to do an abdominal u/s which was much more pleasant...;)  As soon as she put the wand to my stomach, this is what we saw.....

Can you believe it?  Poppy is huge!  Look at those little frog legs!  We are so in love!

Baby is still measuring a few days ahead which is great, but they are still keeping our due date at March 5th.  The heart beat was 167 BPM and the tech said that if she had to guess FOR FUN, she would say girl, based soley on the heart rate!  She says that the heart rate is on target for the sex about 90% of the time in her experience.  She thinks that she will have a better guess at our next appointment which is not for FOUR MORE WEEKS!  How am I ever going to make it?

Anywho....she measured the nuchal fold and says that it looks pretty thin, which is what we want.  The thicker the fold, the higher chance of a possible problem.  Now we have to wait for the blood work to come back which could be about 2 weeks.

We are so excited about everything that is going on right now and are finally feeling like it is really happening.  In just 6 short months, we will have our little blessing in our arms.   :)
